Understanding Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, degenerative neurological disease that destroys a person’s memory and ability to function independently over time. Confusion and memory loss are the hallmark symptoms of each stage, but the implications for care vary greatly from stage to stage and person to person. As individuals transition to the next stage of the disease and their symptoms become more prominent and debilitating, their level of care will increase. This course will provide an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and strategies for person-centered care for those with Alzheimer’s disease.
