Mary Lynch Barbera, PhD, RN, BCBA-D
Mary's been a Registered Nurse since the mid-1980s, and has worked with neurologically impaired patients. She was a Staff Development Coordinator and Nurse Manager at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She brings a unique perspective to the field of the behavior analysis, though, because she's also the parent of an individual with autism. In 2003, Mary became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She was the lead Behavior Analyst on the Pennsylvania Verbal Behavior Project from 2003 to 2010. In 2011, she earned a PhD in Leadership. She has worked with hundreds of individuals on the autism spectrum, and dozens of which she has assisted in toilet training. Mary trains and presents worldwide. Her book, The Verbal Behavior Approach: How to Teach Children with Autism and Related Disorders, has sold over 20,000 copies and it is available in several languages.
